Lucifer Season 2 Episode 13 Reaction "A Good Day to Die."
Overall, this episode had all the feels! The only thing we didn’t agree with was Lucifer’s reaction at the end. His relationship with Chloe is not a “sham.” None of the parties were aware of God’s involvement, which makes the relationship as real as they come. We can’t wait to see where the next episode takes us!

Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 5 Reaction “Dust and Shadows”
This weeks Shadowhunters was so sad! Poor Alec was so guilt ridden and rightfully so. We were really hoping that Valentine would bring Clary’s mom back to life! And how creepy was it that warlock wanted Clary to mate with that disgusting demon!

This episode of Lucifer was their best so far this season! Amenadiel and Charlotte’s arcs made us cry like babies! (Especially Amenadiel! The way he stood in that doorway with arms and legs blocking the orderlies from moving Chloe…Seriously great TV!) D.B. Woodside is such an amazing actor so it was no surprise, but still!!

Supernatural Season 12 Episode 9 Review Reaction
Our initial reaction was positive, even though this wasn’t a perfect episode, it did have a lot of fun elements mainly centered around the theme of Rambo “First Blood”.
The boys start out in Solitary confinement for being very naughty and trying to kill the president. Not torture… but solitary confinement as torture. What? Dean has been tortured, and tortured others in HELL, Sam was taken advantage of by Lucifer repeatedly in the cage, and somehow solitary confinement for six weeks breaks them? We don’t think so. Not buying it.
Also, couldn’t one of the Winchester connections pull them out? What happened to Cas’s powers? Has he stopped being an angel? Wasn’t he fully restored after Lucifer jumped ship from his body last season? Are we missing something guys? LOL at Crowley’s remark that the brothers are like herpes though;P Just can’t get rid of them!
And how understaffed was that super secret government facility! Was everybody on break? Had the weekend off? Let’s just send four guys on a manhunt for the brothers who tried to kill the president. Sounds good to me. If that cabin would have also been haunted, it would have made our nerdy day and we would have forgiven the understaffed secret service!
We liked that Cas killed the reaper. He wants to collect Winchesters like Becca collects cats… and F.M. collects chickens. We get it Cas, once you love a certain kind of pet, you want them. He’s like the Winchester Pokemon hunter… must collect them ALL!

The Magicians Season 2 Episode 1 Review Reaction
WHAT WAS WITH PENNY'S HANDS! And the answer to the first trivia question given by the zombie knight from Raiders of the Lost Ark ... Wings! Thank you Quentin and Becca. But let's leave it all to the end scene in Dirty Dancing! The Quentin Alice kiss was long awaited but then she told him that they weren't getting back together:( It was cool that she made a tree though. The Beast, who we feel pretty bad for in this episode, offers to take Julia's shade, which we think is the attachment to her soul/heart. The Beast says that he severed his connection to his shade, which is probably why he can do such horrible things and feel nothing. It's strange we see Julia and The Beast bond in this episode, it's like Darth Vader being like... let's hang out. All in all, we're hoping for some more trees and kisses!

Lucifer Season 2 Episode 12 "Love Handles" Review Reaction
Congratulations Natasha for winning the FREE giveaway!
Initial reactions: this episode was really good, they stepped up their game! We were completely duped when Chloe and Lucifer kiss, hot and heavy, making out like he’s the fiery overload that he is… but it was only a dream sequence:( We were disappointed last week with the kiss, this week totally made up for it. We just need her to grab those love handles again!
Chloe was coming on a bit strong in the beginning of this episode which Becca didn’t like, but F.M. loved it if only for the butt slap! It was cute that Lucifer just couldn’t accept that Chloe actually cares for him and he just kept searching for excuses… which he unfortunately found one at the end with that random photo of Amenadiel and Chloe’s mom. On a side note, it's a shame Bernadette from Big Bang Theory couldn't stop the main villain who was heart-breakingly Peter from White Collar!! What!!!

Emerald City Season 1 Episode 3 Review/Reaction
Mistress New Mistress was an interesting continuation on the new spin of The Wizard of Oz. I guess the people in the mud dungeon are still down there and everyone else misses the witch of the East like she was their bff. Tip and her travel companion heated up for a crazy climactic ending... *spoiler* we don't think he's dead since he's on all the posters and media for this show;) The "find her, kill her" line was really unnecessary and pulled us out of the world. A little too obvious. Three women were magically hanged by The Beast to call Oz out, basically saying that he "can't get those statues up anymore,"... wink wink. And apparently The Beast doesn't care if you're a witch or a muggle, it's coming for you!

Lucifer Season 2 Episode 11 Review Reaction Fox DC
The kiss was interrupted! Nooooooo! Jana, with the tragic timing! It was fun to see all of Lucifer's past lovers rave about how it was the night of their lives... but they had no emotional connection to the horned hellion:( We love that they're keeping Lucifer's therapist so grounded and the proverbial adult to all of these demons and angels. The stalker girl who made the nerd dolls was so cute! If Lucifer wasn't so into Chloe right now she totally would have had a shot... poor nerd girl, we feel for you. Amenadiel was either looking out for his brother, or for himself, we're still on the fence. But Lucifer is proving to have a large heart despite his bad rap of servitude in Hell. The kiss was more of a tease than a real kiss... we want the fireworks!!

Emerald City Reaction Review Episode 1 & 2 NBC Wizard of Oz Reboot
Our initial reactions are positive, we feel like if you like the theology of the world, if you like all of the renditions of Oz then you’ll enjoy this new spin on it. If you like genre fiction like Zombies and Werewolves then you’ll appreciate this take on the popular Wizard of Oz book.
Becca was a huge fan of the book growing up as a kid that was her favorite movie. In fact her dad wanted to name her Poppy which is a little weird considering it’s used to make heroin.
The show is pretty much setting up that witches are bad, almost like there’s a prejudice against them in this world. Like they’re being oppressed by the Wizard of Oz. It seems as if Oz eradicated the witches in order to save the Emerald City. When the witch of the East dies the other sisters infer that she would have had an apprentice but that Oz didn’t allow that to happen.
What’s nice about the show is that we’re not sure if Glinda is good or bad. She comes off as prudish and snotty but she is dealing with a drunk, unpredictable, powerful witch of the West.
We like that they’re threading in some elements from the classic themes, like the ruby slippers are actually ruby gloves (that melted inside of her). That particularly was an interesting spin because the classic mythos is that Dorothy has the way home the whole time because she’s wearing the slippers. So if this version of Dorothy can go home because she has the gloves/power inside of her the whole time, it’s a nice call back.
The gloves absorbing in Dorothy may also imply that she’s a witch because they were able to absorb inside of her. We’re still not sure what her tattoo is that they painstakingly pointed out on her hand. It could imply that she’s from Oz and her mother had escaped persecution from the Wizard.
It was interesting because they revealed that the witch of the East was actually working with the Wizard imprisoning witches in the spell of her “mud dungeon” and he was trying to recruit Glinda or the witch of the West for this task which they refused.
We loved the red robe. LOVED it. They used the director from The Cell, Tarsem Singh, which if you’ve seen his other work, he’s known for breathtaking visuals. We want to wear that robe at a coffee house in Starbucks. It’s a shame that the robe wasn’t the same one from Doctor Strange, it totally would have saved her from that bullet in the brain… that was one of our favorite parts by the way. When in Oz mythos would you ever expect to see a witch blow her brains out.
The spin on the scarecrow was interesting, that he lost his memory as a “symbol” of him losing his brain. This is a segway into the beginnings of the love story between him and Dorothy. We liked the beat where she gives him a name and it’s Lucas and he puts together, for himself, and also for the audience, that Lucas means home. So in a way meeting him was like coming home to her, which is a great seed for a budding romance. When you meet someone for the first time and it feels like coming home, and you know you’ve met your soul mate.
One thing that bothered us was the fact that the hero accepts the reality of the situation too quickly. Of course the writers are taking into account that the audience is already familiar with the general concept of the Wizard of Oz, so they moved over the beat of her adapting to the world rather quickly. However, it’s still rushed and makes her not believable as a character if she can enter an alternate dimension and not freak out to some extent. They make a small call back “we’re not in Kansas anymore,” but this comes off as laughable considering she’s already starting the quest and accepted her fate for some strange reason. Also, what is fueling her drive? The “munchkin” says she has to see the wizard to answer to him… who goes off to “answer” to someone? In any other story where we didn’t know the mythos you wouldn’t be able to get away with rushing that beat.
Another line that drove us crazy was “have you heard of baseball?” WHAT? She just landed on an alien planet with some dude who doesn’t have his memory, but you’re definitely going to ask him if he knows baseball. We just feel like after the mud dungeon… asking if he’s heard of baseball was so irrelevant. We want to take a sharpie and black out that line in the script. It was such a filler line. When you have two possibly romantic characters on an intimate “walk about” there’s so many lines you could pull from, pick up Romeo and Juliet for five seconds! He has no memory of this world, she doesn’t know this world, this was a beautiful opportunity to have them “trauma bond,” and create a further intimacy between these two perspective lovers. Instead… baseball.
Aside from those critiques we were debating over who the Tin Man is. In every rendition of the Wizard of Oz, the Tin Man is the second person she meets on her journey and that would be Tip (which, without subtitles, we couldn’t understand if it was Tim, or Tin or what his/her name was). If the characters name was Tin we were pretty sure that was a dead giveaway for the Tin Man. BUT Faith had a theory that the Tin Man was the head of the Wizards guards, the one hunting them called Eamonn. Because he is covered in armor and because of his savagery (chopping his fellow swordsman into pieces) he comes off as heartless. Again they are playing with the symbolism of these characters.
Overall we think this is a show worth checking out. If you like the Oz world and that sort of fantasy lore, it’s interesting to watch just to discover the choices they made regarding this reboot. If you want to watch more of our YouTube videos subscribe to our channel 2nerdgirls.
